Based in Newton Abbot, Devon, our NHS therapy team helps people to find equipment solutions to stay active, safe and independent. We are a joint NHS & Devon County Council funded service, offering completely impartial and independent assessment and advice to individuals, families and carers. We are not a shop; we will not try to sell you anything.

Temporary Service Update

We are currently undergoing some staffing changes, which means we are offering a limited number of face-to-face appointments at the Independent Living Centre for now.

Our team is still here to support you. If you have questions about equipment, please get in touch by phone (01392 380181) or email (ilc-exeter@devon.gov.uk) and we will be happy to help.

Thank you for your patience – we will update this page as soon as normal service resumes.

To the ILC Physiotherapist, thank you so much for all your good advice and support at our visit yesterday, and thank you for sending on this information so promptly. It was so useful to have a new and expert eye to look at my husband’s posture and give us useful recommendations as to how to help the situation. Interesting too, that my occasional nagging has now become “very useful advice” according to him! We both know that nearly 20 years as a wheelchair user is not going to be great for his posture, and I think his concentration on as much as physical activity as possible has saved him from being in a worse state; so, anything we can do to continue his physical wellbeing is worthwhile.
